"As a kid, I remember hating riding my bike. My parents had to force me to start riding my bike at age 6, but it wasn't until age 9 that I started enjoying it. When I was 9 years old I would go riding with my dad, exploring the British countryside by road and trail. However, I only started mountain biking in 2006 at age 12 in the Swiss Alps. At first I went XC riding with my dad, and had some great fun. That same year I discovered the sport of downhill, and I rented a downhill bike to try out on the lesser-known downhill runs in Verbier, Switzerland. I loved every second of it, and I realized that it was my true passion. In 2007 I decided to buy a used '06 Specialized Demo 8 to ride downhill on, along with a full-face helmet. However in 2007, I was still hopelessly slow down the tracks, and I would often crash. I rode a lot during autumn 2007 and spring 2008, until I could finally keep up with some of the adults on a downhill course. 2008 is when I finally started taking downhill more seriously, with some full protective gear and a new bike, an '08 Specialized Demo 7 II, and it was also my first year of racing when I participated in the 2008 iXS Swiss Downhill Cup in Verbier, Switzerland. I am forever trying to further improve my skills, help others in the sport, and venture deeper into the way of life that is mountain biking."
